Dr. Eric Kirkegaard Biosca is graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) since 2016.

He then completed his residency in Ophthalmology within the MIR program at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital from May 2017 to May 2021.

FEBO (Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology) title since November 2021.

Professional experience

Physician (MD) in the Ophthalmology Service at Vall Hebron Hospital, in the Medical Retina, Uveitis, and Ocular Inflammation department since May 2021.

This subspecialty involves the diagnosis and treatment of various ocular and systemic inflammatory diseases affecting the anterior and posterior segments of the eye.

His clinical activity is divided between Vall Hebron Hospital (Uveitis and Ocular Inflammation) and primary care at the CAP Chafarinas (General Ophthalmology).

He performs surgical procedures (cataract surgery) at Parc Sanitari Pere Virgili Health.

Additionally, he collaborates as a research investigator in various clinical trials in Ophthalmology and Oncology through the Vall Hebron University Institute Research (VHIR) Foundation.

Teaching experience

Dr. Kirkegaard Biosca is involved in the medical and surgical training of the Ophthalmology residents through the MIR program at Vall Hebron Hospital.

Since 2022, he has been collaborating with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) as an associate professor in the teaching program of the Ophthalmology subject for 4th-year medical students.
